Preparation for Upper GI Endoscopy
- Fasting: You must fast (no food or drinks including water) for at least 6 to 8 hours prior to the scheduled endoscopy.
- Medications: Inform the clinical team in advance if you are on blood thinners (Aspirin, Clopidogrel, Warfarin, etc.) or diabetes medications.
- Accompaniment: Because a light sedative or throat spray is administered, please arrange for a family member or friend to accompany you.
Preparation for Colonoscopy
- Bowel Preparation: A clean colon is imperative for accurate detection of polyps or inflammation. Take the prescribed bowel preparation solution strictly as directed by the clinic.
- Dietary Guidelines: Switch to a clear liquid diet the day prior to the procedure. Avoid liquids with red or purple coloring.
- Comfort & Recovery: The procedure is performed under conscious sedation to ensure maximum comfort. You will rest in our day-care recovery lounge for 1-2 hours afterwards.
What to Bring to Your OPD Consultation
- Previous medical records, prescription cards, and hospital discharge summaries.
- Recent laboratory test reports (Complete Blood Count, Liver Function Tests, Viral Markers, etc.).
- Imaging reports (Ultrasound Abdomen, CT scans, MRCP, or previous endoscopy reports and biopsy slides).
